Year 12 Skills for Independence & Work


Vocational qualifications are very much skill focussed and the delivery team are highly experienced in delivering skill based qualifications.  The team consists of 4 full time teachers and 6 teaching assistants.

Achievement & Progress

At year 10 all pupils follow the Entry Level 2 Award in Skills for Work and Independence.   This programme consists of 2 periods per week and is delivered over a 1 year period.

In year 11 the focus is very much on skills for work and the learners work towards an Entry Level 3 Award in Workskills aimed at preparing them for the next steps following on from College.

Progress is continuously monitored and assessment is in the form of a portfolio  which is internally assessed.   

Curriculum Overview

This qualification is aimed at developing skills towards independence.  Sessions are highly interactive and provide a wide variety of opportunities for learning outside as well as inside the classroom. The skills developed are assessed using different methods, including observation of performance, simulation and portfolio building.
