Important Safety Notice: Keeping Our Children Safe Around Open Water   With the warmer weather, we know many families will be heading to beaches, lakes and beauty spots. Whichever you're doing, please have a conversation with your children about water safety.   Sadly we've seen devastating incidents over the half-term involving young people and open water. As the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service warns, open water remains extremely hazardous, even for confident swimmers.   Please take a moment to sit down with your children and discuss the following vital water safety rules: Cold Water Shock: Even on hot days, open water is shockingly cold. Jumping in causes involuntary gasping, which can lead to rapid panic and drowning.  Hidden Dangers: Murky water conceals sharp debris, deep sudden drops, and strong, unseen currents.  Float to Live: If your child falls in unexpectedly, they should fight the urge to swim hard against the water. Instead, they should lean back, extend their arms and legs, and practice floating on their back while controlling their breathing.  Never Enter to Rescue: Advise your children to never jump into the water to help a friend. Instead, they must call 999 immediately and shout encouragement. Please reinforce that they should only ever swim at supervised, purpose-built venues with lifeguards.

We will be selling Gingerbread Socks to raise money for Cheshire Down Syndrome.  Socks will cost £1, and will be on sale at breaktime from Tuesday 17th March.
